The South Korean smartphone manufacturer says that the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge have been built for today’s consumer lifestyle, as both headsets lead the industry with a refined design, more advanced camera, streamlined software functionality and unparalleled connectivity to a galaxy of products, services, and experiences.

“We believe in a world that is brighter, sharper, more convenient, and more fun. We strive to deliver on that vision with the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge by marrying elegant design with functionality and providing a seamless mobile experience,” DJ Koh, President of Mobile Communications for Samsung Electronics, said.

“We empower consumers with technology to help them get more out of life and will continue to push the frontier of what’s possible,” Koh added.

Design

Samsung says that it spent a long time perfecting the curves of the Galaxy S7 edge and S7, using a proprietary process called “3D Thermoforming.” This, it explains, involves using melted 3D glass to curve with such precision that it meets the curved metal alloy to create an exquisitely seamless and strong unibody.

“The dual-curve backs on the Galaxy S7 edge and S7 are the reason why they feel so comfortable when you hold them,” the company continues. “Everything about the design, from the naturally flowing lines to the thin form factor, come together to deliver a grip that’s so satisfying, you won’t want to let go.”

Protection

In terms of protection – the Galaxy S7 Edge and S7 are both fully waterproof, meaning you can carry on using them even after dropping in water. “You can [also] play games by the pool, post selfies at the beach and call for a cab in the rain,” Samsung says, as the company cites that it has been awarded an IP (Ingress Protection) rating of “68” for the liquid and dust-proof devices.

Camera

Samsung is also making improvements to how you will take photos with the S7.

“Many of the most photographable moments of our lives happen when there’s not enough light,” the firm highlights. “We’re either indoors or the sun has set. With the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge, that won’t be a problem. The brighter F1.7 lens and larger 1.4µm pixels on the image sensor capture so much more light that your photos come out sharp and detailed.”

Samsung’s new camera sensor also adopts dual-pixel technology.

“Each and every one of the pixels on the image sensor has two photodiodes instead of one, meaning the professional-grade Dual Pixel Sensor can focus as quickly and as accurately as you would with your own eyes.”

And focus is also getting some attention …

“Every single pixel on the Dual Pixel Sensor is used for phase detection, enabling autofocus that’s so incredibly fast and seamless that even the most sudden movements are caught in the act, even when the light starts to fade,” the company notes.

There’s even something called motion panorama, which Samsung claims is a first. Specifically it allows for the capturing of motion in a panoramic setting.
