Apple’s 4-inch iPhone, coined by the world’s media as “iPhone 5Se,” could hit shelves on March 18 – according to a new report.
The report arrives via the ever well-informed Mark Gurman, who reiterates this weekend that Apple is currently planning to introduce both its new 4-inch iPhone, and a new version of the iPad Air at a special event to be held on the morning of Tuesday, March 15, adding that both products could then see their official retail launch just a few days later – on Friday, March 18.
“Apple is unlikely to offer pre-orders for the new devices, according to sources who cautioned that the plans could still change,” Gurman says.
The report arrives as the first real piece of speculation that could throw light on exactly when Apple plants to officially launch the next iteration of the iPhone, following the device’s now expected announcement in mid-March.
Expected to be a minor revision to the company’s smartphone before the firm unveils its next major upgrade, this fall, the iPhone 5Se is currently thought to be modelled on the iPhone 5S – and if recent reports are to be believed, could arrive boasting similar (albeit upgraded) internals.
A slight revamp to the device’s exterior design is also likely, (specifically in relation to those previously squared-off edges becoming a lot more curved), as Apple works to ensure the new device falls in line with the overall aesthetic look of both the iPhone 6 and 6S.
