Kahney has a great piece tonight on the extreme lengths Apple is going to, in order to ensure that no-one gets a sneak peak at what the company will have announced – come this time tomorrow.

“Apple has wired the entire event auditorium — the Flint Center for the Performing Arts — with a brand new, state-of-the-art security system to lock down access and prevent leaks,” the report reads.

And, it’s not just that mysterious white building that is under 24-hour security protection.

According to the report, the technician staff and construction crews – who have been working to put up the temporary building throughout the weekend, are also having to hand in their smartphones to Apple’s security team to avoid anyone potentially taking photos in and around the event’s ongoing preparations – that may later leak out onto the Internet.

“The phones’ cameras are being covered in special tamper-proof tape, which changes color if removal is attempted,” the report claims, adding that at least one person working on the site – who asked to remain anonymous (for obvious reasons), commented:

“If it changes color, we’ll be fired on the spot.”

“In addition,” says Kahney, “Apple security personnel are carefully scrutinizing the phones for unauthorized pictures or messages, looking for any attempts to communicate details of the event to the outside.”

It is clear from the action of shrouding the building in white, (and the many security personnel that Apple has contracted to ensure the building isn’t breached, prematurely), that the firm has stepped up its regular security protocol twice-fold with this event.

All of which are signs that something huge is coming.
