Getting Up, Close And Personal With The ‘Galaxy S4 Mini’ – [VIDEO]

Mashable has shared a video originally published by mobile network Three, which ultimately aims to show-off Samsung’s just-announced Galaxy S4 Mini – (yes, it’s actually a thing) – to the masses.

Designed for people who are not too keen on the Galaxy S4‘s 5-inch form-factor, (and who are perhaps looking for the S4 experience at a cheaper price-point), the new handset carries with it an 8-megapixel camera and dual-core processor, which – compared to the S4′s 13-megapixel shooter and quad-core processor, might seem a little skimpish – initially.

However, just like Apple’s ‘iPad mini’ only exists to convince those not fully sold on the full 9.7-inch form-factor of the iPad, it’s important not to forget that the ‘Galaxy S4 Mini’ is not designed to be a high-end smartphone. Instead, it exists solely to provide more choice to those not sold on the Galaxy S4‘s 5-inch display.

While the South Korean company is keeping the device’s release date and pricing all “hush-hush” for the time being, though, Samsung is expected to host its next media event on June 20, an event at which analysts predict “even more products on the Galaxy brand,” potentially including, the BBC says, “a model with optical camera zoom functionality,” as well as a “waterproof phone.”

When it officially lands, the ‘Galaxy S4 Mini’ handset will support upto 8GBs of internal storage capacity which can (optionally) be expanded to upto 64GBs by way of inserting a microSD card. The device will also run Android 4.2.2 (JellyBean), and will carry all the cellular internals required to make it 4G “Ultrafast”-Ready.
