Originally seeing its release on the App Store back in April 2010, Kik Interactive – the developer behind instant messaging service, Kik, has announced that the service is now being used by over 200 Million users.
Now with the ability to add up to 50 of your friends to a messgaing group, Kik has become increasingly popular among iPhone users over the last several months. One of the service’s key features includes giving these users the option to send messages to each other, without having to know their friend’s phone number.
“We’re really excited about it. It puts us in a category with few other Canadian companies. From that perspective it’s pretty neat,” Kik Messenger’s Head of Marketing, Heather Galt, says. “Some of our registered users are people who probably used the app one time. But what gets us excited about our engaged users is those people are coming back. They’re having meaningful, impactful conversation with people they know or people they meet.”
“[...] Users in the U.S. spend an average of 35 minutes per session in the app,” reports Nick Salerni. “These numbers are quite impressive as they come ahead of Facebook Messenger’s 27 minutes per session and Snapchat‘s 21 minutes per session.”
Kik Messenger is a FREE download.
