With the next iteration of Apple’s iPhone likely still several months out, reports are now beginning to surface regarding the specs we could expect to see from the next iteration of Samsung’s flagship mobile offering – the Galaxy S5.
According to an investor note – intercepted by 9to5Google – the Galaxy S5 is currently expected to arrive in two different flavours – “Standard” and “Prime” – and will each carry a 5.2-inch display, 16-megapixel back-facing camera, 2-megapixel front-facing camera, support for 3D gestures, a fingerprint sensor (figures), and a 2850mAh battery.
The differentiation between these two models will lie in their internals. On the one hand, the note suggests that users who choose to go for Samsung’s premium “Prime” iteration will find themselves blessed with a 5.2-inch AMOLED display (2560 x 1440 pixels) at 565 pixels per inch, alongside an octa-core Exynos 5430 32-bit processor, and 3GB of RAM.
Meanwhile, those who opt for the slightly cheaper “Standard” model will get a choice between either the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 (MSM8974AC), or octa-core Exynos 5422 32-bit processor, alongside a 5.2-inch AMOLED display (1920 x 1080 pixels) at 423 pixels per inch, and 2GB of RAM – according to the report.
Each version of the smartphone is expected to arrive carrying a plastic case.
